How to generate happy hour prices using Price Rules.

The pricing tab allows the user to create time blocks in which prices on items automatically change.

Menu Pricing Options

Name

Prices should be named according to the times that the pricing is active.

For example, one common pricing name is “Happy Hour.”

Short Identifier

The short identifier should be an easily recognizable abbreviation of the name.

For example: if the pricing is named “Happy Hour,” the short identifier would be “HH.”

Apply Post-Tax

If this option is toggled, the pricing will be applied after taxes and therefore will not alter the tax charged.

Room Specific

If this option is toggled, this pricing option will only be available in rooms where it is enabled.

Start Date

This date value specifies when the pricing will become available.  If it is left blank, the pricing will become available immediately.

End Date

This value specifies when the pricing will no longer be available.  If it is left blank, the pricing will remain available until it is removed.

Schedule

The schedule section is where the user specifies the times during which the pricing option is available.

To add a time block for the price, select a day from the drop down menu and input start and end times.

Pricing

In the pricing section, the user starts by selecting which menu category the pricing rule will apply to.  Next, select whether the pricing should be adjusted based on dollar amount, percentage, or forced fix price.  The user can then choose to narrow down the items affected by choosing a subcategory in the lower left value box.  If no subcategory is specified, all items within the original category will be affected.  If special pricing should be applied to item modifiers, toggle the “Affect Modifiers” button on.

If a menu item is contained in more than one category, the app will respect the item that is first on the list from top to bottom.  As an example, if an individual appetizer is set to be priced 10% off during happy hour, and the entire appetizers section is set to be $2.00 off each item, that specific appetizer contained in both would respect the 10% off rule because it is listed above the $2.00 rule.

When adjusting price based on percent, keep in mind that to reduce price the value in the amount box should be negative.

Exclude Online

This toggle-able option excludes online orders from special pricing.
